A bed frame or bedstead is the part of a bed used to position a mattress or foundation set off the floor. Bed frames are typically made of wood or metal. A bed frame is made up of head, foot, and side rails. Most double (full) sized beds, along with all queen and king size beds require some type of center support rail, typically also with extra feet extending down to the floor. From Wikipedia under the

Q. The bed frame is in good shape but the creaking and squeaking occurs every time I shift my body position and is very annoying. Asked by crosseyedlemon - Mon Sep 24 09:58:10 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Depends where the creaking and squeaking is coming from. Old wooden bed frames do have a tendency to separate at some of the joints, a good coat of beeswax in the joints will take care of the annoyance. The celibacy answer is good too! Answered by CyndallLee - Mon Sep 24 10:18:21 2007 I have a full size bed with rails, footboard, and headboard. Can I convert the frame to a queen size some how? Q. I have a really nice full size bed frame with rails, head board and foot board that I spent a lot of time refinishing. I would like to upgrade to a queen size bed without throwing out the current bed. Is there a conversion kit or special brakets I can get to convert my full size bed to a queen size bed? Asked by Tom W - Sun Sep 30 20:33:31 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. A queen is wider so it would look very odd with the mattress wider than the head board. I would not even try, especially as you have done so much to make it look good. Answered by Mike W - Sun Sep 30 22:55:08 2007 Box spring keeps falling out of the bed frame?
Q. I have an older mattress/box spring/ bed frame set. I still love it, but lately the box spring keeps falling out of the frame!! We wake up with the mattress slanted, and it's super annoying. Any suggestions? I don't really want to buy a new set of anything, so I'd appreciate some cost effective do it yourself tips! Thanks! Asked by linzel_03 - Tue Sep 9 23:38:12 2008 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments A. In my experience, a lot of frames are adjustable to fit various widths of box spring. You can tell because you will see a clamp on the head and foot end crossmembers when you uncover the actual frame. It sounds like one or both clamps have come loose and allowed the frame to slip a bit which means the spring is not supported properly on all 4 sides.
