How would a 1 armed person signal a turn if his signals were broken?
Q. If a man was driving a vehicle and his turn signals were broken, how would he signal his turn if he had only a right arm. (of course he would be driving in the states) What Im trying to say is, if his turn signals on the car are broken (ie..the light bulbs are out) and he has to use hand signals. What does he do?

A. He doesn't signal at all. Just like most drivers in the states that do have working signals

How do cell phone signals find my cellphone?
Q. I live in Northern Ontario. I recently travelled to Michigan and continued to receive calls on my cellphone. How does the signal find my cellphone? I know that cell towers transmit the signals, but does that mean when I call someone on their cell phone that the signal is broadcast on all towers until it "finds" the right phone?

A. No, your cellphone is in constant communication with the cell towers that it can receive and communicate with. This tells the cell company's computers where you are, so that when a call comes in, it goes to the tower nearest your current location.

How do you pan two separate left and right signals from a Figure 8 condenser microphone?
Q. Is there some kind of box that you need? Anyone have a link to such a thing? I see all kinds of information about M/S recording and panning a figure 8 mic hard left and hard right, but I have no idea how you get those two separate signals from just one microphone!! Anyone?

A. In an M/S configuration you copy the side mike signal (figure 8 mic) and reverse the phase on another channel, as well as panning both channels, one hard left and the other hard right. You may need to construct a Y cable if your mixer cannot bus the signal to a duplicate input channel. See figures 4 and 5 on the example below. If you are using a condenser mic be sure to turn off the phantom power on the second channel if you are using the Y cable.
